Pastels & Drawing

My pastel drawings are nearly always produced from life. I am especially interested in drawing people but also animals (particularly horses) and our relationships with them.  I like the challenge of trying to capture movement but also I’m interested in colour and I sometimes like to alter/change what I see in front of me.

I like to draw at events like circuses, concerts, race meetings and it is the crowd observing these events that interests me the most. Perhaps my best work is made when drawing from the model. I try to work very spontaneously without looking at the paper as I try to interpret the outline of a figure.
